Associate Pastor Coy Profit

Youth Pastor Tyler Fenner

Steven Spencer was born September 19, 1973, in Stuart, Virginia. The youngest of three boys, he was raised in a rural part of Stokes County, North Carolina. He spent his childhood and early adult years working alongside his grandfather and uncles on the family farm. Steven then met Michelle Glidewell and they married on July 8, 1995. Steven and Michelle also have two children, Bailey and Cole.
Shortly before the birth of his son in the spring of 2001, Steven accepted the Lord Jesus as his personal Savior. He began to feel the call to preach the Gospel in the fall of 2005. Following a brief struggle, Steven submitted to the call to preach in February, 2006.
Steven is a 2008 graduate of Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute in Hendersonville, North Carolina. He was ordained associate pastor of Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Sandy Ridge, North Carolina, on December 16. Steven then became the Senior Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church on April 15, 2009.

After several months of prayer meetings, some local believers became convinced of the need of a Baptist Church in the Cold Springs area. Shortly after that Calvary Baptist Church was organized in 1954. The first service was then held on September 5th, 1954, in a cinder block building on Jenkins Hollow Road. The church grew exponentially and within a year property was purchased and a new church building was built on Cold Springs Road.
Since its beginning, Calvary has undergone many changed. Through all the changes, this local body of believers has remained committed to preaching, teaching, and living out the Word of God. We believe that the Bible is the Inspired, Inerrant, and Infallible Word of God. It is upon this belief that we undertake the task of reaching the lost with the Gospel, making disciples for Christ, and exalting our Lord.
